Location of Air Bags
Air bags are usually mounted on the following locations:
- Steering wheel
- Dashboard
- Seat
- Doors
An air bag consists of three parts:
- The bag itself
Made of nylon fabric and is folded into the steering wheel or dashboard. - Sensor
The sensor directs the bag to inflate. - The inflation system
Important uses of airbags are:
- Most commonly used for cushioning, particularly after very rapid inflation in the case of an automobile collision.
- Prevent severe injuries in case of front-end collision.
- Act as a safety equipment in vehicles.
