In this environment, if the car, some tools or anything else is left, leads to wet car surfaces, rust on tools and also, papers get damp. Such an environment facilitates growth of fungal spores and molds.
This problem can be solved by reducing the dew point level within controlled levels.
Features of Dehumidifiers:
There are many important features associated with dehumidifiers. The common features of dehumidifier that makes them good for moisture elimination are:
- In-built humidistats ensure that air does not become too dry or too wet by turning switches on, as and when required.
- Almost all modern dehumidifiers use Chloro Fluoro Carbon free refrigerants.
- An accurately chosen dehumidifier tolerates periodic changes of air.
- Condensate dehumidifiers are generally smaller in dimension.
- They are easy to install.
- Adsorption dehumidifiers are larger in size and are mounted permanently in a place.
- Their action is independent of temperature variations and operate as efficiently at -20°C as +30°C.
- Adsorption dehumidifiers reduce moisture level to much lower levels than condensate types.
- Action of dehumidification brings the building as well as the surrounding contents into moisture equilibrium within a short time.
There are basically two main types of dehumidifiers available in market. Both of them work on separate principles. They are:
- Condensate Dehumidifiers
They are the most commonly used dehumidifiers and find a wide application in domestic use. This type of dehumidifier work on the principle of dew point. - Adsorption Dehumidifiers
They are mostly used for commercial purposes, i.e. in commercial vehicle garage. They are used for controlling larger volumes of moisture from air. Adsorption dehumidifiers use a completely different principle to extract the moisture from the air.
The main purpose of using dehumidifier is to eliminate moisture from the air in the garage. Other important properties of dehumidifier are:
- Speed up the removal of condensation from car, making clear vision of everything.
- Dehumidifiers keep everything stored in the garage condensation and corrosion free.
- They are cheap to run.
- They are maintenance free and are widely used.
- In-built humidistats ensure that air does not become too dry or too wet by turning switches as and when required.
- Almost all modern dehumidifiers use Chloro fluoro carbon free refrigerants.
- An accurately chosen dehumidifier tolerate periodic changes of air.
Dehumidifiers are simple to use and they do not need regular maintenance other than periodic cleaning of the built-in air filter.
