Clocks installed in
car provide passengers with the facility to keep a track of time while
traveling or racing. Clocks may be fitted in any type of vehicle
including sports car. In the earlier days, many mechanical model of
clocks were available that could be mounted on general interior
surfaces, dashboards, steering wheels and rear-view mirrors. In the late
1950s and 1960s electric clocks evolved and were popular till the advent
of quartz technology. Most car clocks used today are based on
technologies like Global Positioning Systems and are mounted on the
dashboard.
Types of Car Clock
Car clocks are available in many types such as:
- Traditional Clock
These clocks come with Quartz movements with dials and hands.
- Analog clock
It is a clock that displays time of a day by position of hands on
the dial. Analog clocks suffer from mechanical problems and are not
visible in dark.
- Digital Clock
A clock that displays time of a day digitally. They display the
current time of the day. Some digital car clocks also display date
and have alarm option too. There are some digital clocks provided
with LED thus enabling users to see time at night also.
Most car manufacturers mount the clock on the lighting circuit of
the vehicle.
